Cable Glide is a regional high-speed transport system. Wing-supported cabins ride two slim rails carried on cables between slender pylons, crossing terrain, water and roads with a minimal footprint.
Our goal is to bring high-speed connections to routes where conventional high-speed rail is too costly or impossible to build — not competing with mainline trains but complementing them, with light, inexpensive, elevated infrastructure and frequent service.
Conventional trains are heavy, and carrying that weight demands massive, expensive infrastructure — strong embankments, viaducts and tunnels. High speed also needs wide, gentle curves and near-flat gradients, making lines slow to build, costly, or impossible on difficult terrain.
Flying doesn't scale for short regional hops: it's inconvenient over short distances, and the many take-offs and landings needed for mass transit wear out aircraft and pilots. Electrified cables let cabins run frequently, at high capacity and low emissions.
The vehicle's wings carry much of the cabin weight in flight, removing vertical load from the track and allowing high speed on slender infrastructure. An onboard turbulence-cancelling system keeps the ride smooth and holds vehicle–cable forces within safe limits.
A soft, tuned suspension effectively decouples much of the vehicle's aerodynamic response from the cables, leaving only the traction forces to be transmitted into them.
Propulsion uses a roller-coaster-style clamp around the rail: drive wheels are pressed firmly onto it from above and below, and that contact pressure gives the driven wheels the grip they need to propel the cabin along the line.
